The Heersink School of Medicine chapter of the American Women's Association (AMWA) is aligned with the national mission, "To advance women in medicine, advocate for equity, and ensure excellence in health care." Along with colleagues everywhere, we value "integrity, equity, diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and mentorship."

Our main activity is to offer live programs (panels, working sessions, and keynotes) with speakers from UAB or elsewhere to discuss timely topics that are important for personal and career fulfilment. Each topic is carefully selected to help motivate and educate UAB team members.

We don't require attendees to be members of AMWA and all are welcome (faculty, fellows, residents, pre-med, medical students, and other healthcare professionals), independent of their gender. We would also like to facilitate mentorship opportunities for women at UAB at all career levels.

To ensure you stay up-to-date with the latest AMWA news and activities, please scroll within the "Subscribe to Women in Medicine News" form below to enter your first name, last name, and email address. Your request will be entered once you click the green submit button.

If you have any questions or concerns, UAB Chapter AMWA President, Marisa B. Marques (Pathology), can be reached at any time by email (mmarques@uabmc.edu).
