Social Determinants of Health (SDH)

The Social Determinants of Health (SDH) Core provides methodological expertise to investigators and offers research tools, such as data products and measurement instruments; maintains a database with important region-specific data related to social determinants of health; and helps visualize socioeconomic disparity using GIS mapping. Available to investigators are: Resource Bank to assess socioeconomic status, dietary patterns, stress, educational system, social exclusion, meaningful work opportunities, income inequality, built environment, social cohesion, civic engagement, collective efficacy, neighborhood living conditions, environmental exposures, and other societal resources; SDH Measurement Toolbox – validated scales, indices, and instruments to measure social determinants of health; Secondary Data Sources that describe social determinants of health.

Recruitment and Retention Shared Facility (RRSF)

The Recruitment and Retention Shared Facility (RRSF) offers recruitment of participants for any study, including help with developing recruitment and retention plans; identifying participants and targeting them with culturally relevant messages; consenting, enrolling, and scheduling participants; providing databases in requested format; generating standard or customized reports; access to data analysts, statisticians, and epidemiologists with expertise in health disparities; and retention services for follow-up data collection.
