The UAB Neurofibromatosis Clinic provides comprehensive, integrated care for children and adults with all forms of neurofibromatosis, including NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. As a worldwide leader in neurofibromatosis, our program is dedicated to caring for patients and families affected by NF with expert diagnosis, treatment, and access to leading-edge research and clinical trials.
Patients receive exceptional care from a multidisciplinary team of specialists who collaborate in the treatment and management of NF and its complications. As a member of the Children’s Tumor Foundation NF Clinic Network (NFCN), our focus is providing integrated clinical care across the lifespan, as well as education, support, and counseling for individuals and families affected by NF.
Clinic Expertise
Our program is directed by neuro-oncologist Rebecca Brown, MD, PhD. Dr. Brown joined UAB in November 2024 from Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City where she established an all-ages NF and SWN clinic. Her goal is to continue to grow the UAB NF Clinic’s global presence to become a destination for NF/SWN care.
Our clinical team also includes: pediatric neuro-oncologist Katie Metrock, MD; certified nurse practitioner Tammi Skelton, CRNP; Caylee Sansing, RN; and genetic counselors who collaborate in providing patients and families with expert care, assistance, and support in managing the lifelong medical, psychological, and social implications of an NF diagnosis.
