MeadsFamilyCheckPresentation 15WEBAfter Hannah and Jared Meads lost their twin boys to the rare genetic disorder, Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), they wanted to find a way to help others impacted by CDG. To honor the memory of their boys, the Meads Miracles, the Meads established the Meads Miracles Charity Golf Tournament to help fund research and provide for families impacted by CDG.

The Meads were grateful for the care their twins received at UAB Pediatrics and chose UAB and Children's of Alabama Complex Care as the beneficiary of the money raised at the tournament this year.

The tournament is in its second year and was held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, for CDG Awareness Day. The event consisted of a golf tournament, followed by a celebration at Steele Hall in Trussville.

This year the tournament raised $50,000 to donate to UAB and Children's of Alabama Complex Care, and the work led by Marie Pfarr, M.D., director of UAB and Children's of Alabama Complex Care.

The money will go towards starting to develop the Complex Care Program, which will support children and families with complex chronic conditions. This program will specialize in caring for children with medical complexity and focus on providing continuous, coordinated, family-centered, and personalized patient care.

“We are so excited about this generous donation and it certainly will be instrumental in the development of this important program,” said Dr. Pfarr.
