  • Highlight our department’s diversity and build a more inclusive environment by creating a welcoming safe space and encouraging a sense of belonging
  • Support staff development by providing training resources, encouraging continual learning, and networking
  • Listen to staff feedback and look for ways to improve the workplace

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

I serve on the DE&I staff because I believe our diverse campus is our greatest asset! 

What are your hopes for this committee?

I joined the committee because I want to not only champion our current diversity but also build upon the strong foundation we already have in place. UAB is full of different faces in different places and I want to see Radiology leading the way!

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

I serve on this committee because I believe there are opportunities to create advanced offerings targeted to staff with diversity in mind, and I am excited to be a part of that.

What are your hopes for this committee?

I would like to see an increase of diverse offerings that are geared towards growth mindset while integrating more diverse people and ideas in the workplace. I also hope we are able to showcase opportunities for staff to develop professionally.

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

I believe that everyone matters, and I am very passionate about helping everyone. Radiology is a diverse department, so I want to highlight and celebrate our cultural diversity, create sense of belonging and support the staff development. 

What are your hopes for this committee?

I hope that I can help recognize our staff as essential contributors in Radiology, identify ways to support the staff development and make sure each one has access to the tools and resources to succeed.

Amanda Dunn, Communications Specialist

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

I am eager to be a part of a group that believes every person on our staff is essential and to create positive change and opportunites for those people to grow and utilize their own unique strengths. I also believe in the power of good communication so I am excited to grow my own abilities while communicating the efforts our team is working on to help others.  

What are your hopes for this committee?

I look forward to engaging and connecting with more people in our department and serving them with resources, growth opportunities, networking events, and more.

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

I decided to serve on this committee because I have seen so many employees move through positions at UAB while not really being connected to UAB and what it has to offer, either because they were never informed or because they felt they didn't fit.

What are your hopes for this committee?

My hope is that we can get all of our employees to see there are opportunities for their growth at UAB not just professionally, but personally as well.

Why did you choose to serve on the DE&I Staff Radiology Committee?

To bridge the gap of inclusion for staff development and to bring awareness of professional growth opportunities within the department and UAB. 

What are your hopes for this committee?

I hope that as a committee, we can work towards becoming a voice for our diverse staff within Radiology by engaging professionally and personally. I hope that we can bring awareness to the development and training that UAB provides for staff.
