UAB medical student and Ren Lab member Reagan Hattaway is preparing to wrap up the last of her research training next week as this summer’s UAB School of Medicine Physician Scientist Development Fellow.

As a Physician Scientist Development Fellow, Hattaway received an eight-week, full-time, hands-on research experience, which gave her the opportunity to complete RCR training and to prepare and submit an abstract to present at the 2019 Dale J. Benos Medical Student Research Day, which will be held this fall.

This fellowship has also helped support Hattaway in her research by providing her with a roughly $2,000-per month stipend over the course of the summer semester, which began June 10.

Hattaway is a student researcher in the molecular and vascular pathobiology lab of UAB Associate Professor of Surgery Bin Ren, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA. She will continue to conduct her biomedical research part time in Ren's lab for the duration of her medical training at UAB.
