The UAB Department of Surgery is making the most of the end of summer with several team-building exercises in the great outdoors.

Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery

The Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery participated in the third annual Michell's Place Dragon Boat Races on Saturday, August 19.

Together, members of the division, in a team of 20, raced their boat in timed competitions on the water at East Lake Park.

Together, teams raised over $80,000 for Mitchell's Place, which provides diagnostic, educational, and therapeutic services to improve the lives of children affected by autism and other developmental disabilities.

From fishing to exploring Alabama's local waterways, the team spent the day exploring and catching up outside of the lab.
