Research/Clinical Interest Description: The overall goal of my research is to identify and characterize the molecular mechanisms responsible for chronic alcohol and obesity induced mitochondrial dysfunction and how this contributes to liver pathology. We are particularly interested in determining how alterations to the mitochondrial proteome play a role in this process. Projects are also focused on defining the role of nitric oxide (NO) in regulating mitochondrial respiration and function, and more importantly how alterations in NO signaling contribute to liver pathology. We use a variety of biochemical, molecular and cellular techniques, including several novel proteomics approaches.
