Richard Scribner MD, MPH is the D’Angelo Professor of Alcohol Research at the LSU School of Public Health. He joined the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1994. He received his M.D. at the University of Southern California in 1984 and his M.P.H. at the University of California Los Angeles in 1987. Dr. Scribner is a internationally recognized expert in the area of community level determinants of health. He has successfully completed a number of NIH funded grants in a variety of areas including social determinants of assaultive violence, obesity, and HIV risk. Dr. Scribner’s research projects have informed health policy at the local, state, and federal levels. Dr. Scribner is currently the Chair of the NIH review committee on Community Influences on Health Behavior.
