Summer at UAB Partnership Cancer Research Program
The Summer at UAB Partnership Cancer Research Program provides students with hands-on training in basic, translational, and population-based cancer research.
Program Objectives
The objectives for the PRSTP program are found below:
- To foster interest in cancer research by exposing students to laboratory-based, clinical, and translational cancer research environments.
- To provide structured laboratory experience where interns learn and practice core scientific techniques used in biomedical and cancer research.
- To enhance students’ understanding of cancer biology through hands-on research, educational seminars, and guided mentorship.
- To develop practical research skills including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and scientific communication.
- To prepare students for advanced academic pathways, positioning alumni to pursue degrees such as master’s, PhD, or MD.
- To encourage careers in biomedical and health-related sciences by offering students an insider’s perspective into cancer research and related disciplines.
Up to 10 students who will be undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students will be accepted into an 8-week paid summer program (May 27 to July 22, 2026 (8 weeks) to work with faculty mentors on cancer-focused research projects at UAB.
US Citizens or Permanent Residents are eligible to apply; International Students are not eligible.
Campus housing and travel expenses will not be provided.
