While complimentary, the eye exam is by appointment only. To make an appointment, call (205) 934-3058. Appointments will be held at the UAB Eye Care clinic, located at 1716 University Blvd.

This event is through InfantSEE®, a public health program developed in 2005 by the American Optometric Association and Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., and designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an essential part of infant wellness care to improve a child’s quality of life. Nationwide, the InfantSEE® program has been responsible for discovering retinal cancers and other vision-threatening disorders in infants.

According to the American Optometric Association, one in 10 children is at risk from undiagnosed vision problems. Clinical data have supported a need for early screening for infants. A comprehensive infant eye assessment at 6 to 12 months of age is recommended by the American Optometric Association, even if no issues with vision are apparent.
