Back to a new normal
Welcome Back: Let's Rock It!, held 9-10 a.m. June 17 and Aug. 31, assists supervisors with re-entry readiness and ways to recognize hard-working teams. The course also helps leaders and their teams identify ways to re-imagine and re-invent existing office processes and roles for maximum success. Register here.
Ace that performance review
Employees can find help in Making the Most of Your Performance Review — a safe space to learn about best practices and expectations in an interactive session. Sessions held 9-10 a.m. June 22, July 20 and Aug. 24. Register here.
Supervisors, meanwhile, can learn from Performance Management for Managers, which offers an overview of the UAB performance review system and best practices. Sessions held 9-10 a.m. June 24, July 21 and Aug. 26. Register here.
New coaching circle
Coaching circles are small groups, generally eight to 10 people, open to employees at manager level and above. Participants gain coaching skills in three areas: listening, asking powerful questions and giving and receiving feedback. A new coaching circle will be added this summer, in addition to existing circles. Sessions are 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 9 and 23, July 7 and 21 and Aug. 4 and 18. Register here.

Developing empathy and navigating difficult conversations
Learn to use active listening skills to build strong relationships with others, show vulnerability, show you care and change behaviors in Using Empathy in Challenging Times, 1-2 p.m. July 1. Register here.
Navigating Difficult Conversations is a two-part course that helps participants identify challenging situations, foster respectful dialogue and create an alignment of goals. In Part 1, Identifying and Planning the Conversation, participants learn to recognize patterns that lead to difficult conversations, apply active listening techniques to increase understanding and identify assumptions we bring into conversation. In Part 2, Holding the Conversation, participants learn to discuss how to overcome barriers to healthy dialogue, identify ways to deal with difficult responses and practice applying contrasting statements to a difficult response.
