1. What is this limited business model and what does it mean for the IACUC office? (March 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM)

The limited business model is basically a work from home model for the IACUC office and staff. Because the IACUC office has, for many years, allowed staff to work from home, we are positioned to make this transition with minimum disruptions to our processes while continuing to providing good customer service.

2. Will the IACUC continue to review my protocol or will there be delays? (March 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM)

Yes. Protocols will be processed and reviewed in the same manner they have been without any anticipated significant delays due to the limited business model.

3. How can I contact someone in the IACUC office during this limited business model? (March 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM)

You can contact any IACUC staff member by phone or e-mail. Office phones are being monitored remotely or callers are being directed to alternate phone numbers through the out of office message. You can find a list of office staff contacts on the IACUC website at https://www.uab.edu/research/home/iacuc-staff.

4. What if I’m having a problem completing a form or finding information on the website? (March 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM)

IACUC staff are working remotely and glad to assist you with any issues you may encounter. Please see FAQ #3 regarding IACUC contact options.

5. Will the IACUC continue to have full committee meetings to approve protocols? (March 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM)

Yes, the IACUC will conduct full committee meetings via Zoom at the regularly scheduled date and time on the last Wednesday of each month. Most protocols are reviewed and approved without full committee review. We do not anticipate a delay in review and approval for those that require full committee review.
