Research Integrity Assurance (RIA)

Research Integrity Assurance is responsible for coordination of UAB’s Responsible Conduct of Research training enterprise, the adjudication of allegations of Research Misconduct, and deployment of tools designed to support scientific integrity in UAB’s tireless pursuit of scholarly excellence.

UAB is strongly committed to preserving research integrity. Ethical conduct is a fundamental expectation for every UAB community member, and it is critical to our research mission.

RCR training is a critical component of research and scholarly effort at UAB. Most broadly, it establishes a minimum ethical platform of expectations to uphold public trust in UAB’s research endeavors. This is demonstrated through the UAB’s adherence to both public laws and institutional policies, commitment to best practices and high personal convictions, and observation of professional codes. The information and materials provided on this website are intended to improve knowledge of RCR concepts, help promote perpetual RCR learning, provide information about RCR training requirements, and to ensure understanding of the responsibilities of individuals in preserving research integrity.
