PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Professional Development Committee hosts one-day conferenceOn May 12, 2017, UAB Student Affairs Professional Development Committee will host a one-day conference for Student Affairs professionals and students. UAB staff will give presentations on their work and best practices in the profession. The free event will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Hill Student Center. UAB Housing and Residence Life is a generous sponsor of this event.

Requests for proposals are now being accepted. Presentations that give students and staff within Student Affairs a more comprehensive understanding of the division as a whole and encourage community among offices are sought.

Presentations will be 45-50 minutes long and proposals can be submitted with 1-4 presenters. Panels, workshops, presentations and roundtables are suggested as formats. The presentation proposals should address one or more of the conference themes, which are:

  • The retention and recruitment of students
  • The development of students
  • The health and wellness of students
  • Initiatives or programs done in collaboration with one or more Student Affairs offices
  • A previous presentation from a national or state conference related to your field
