Nathan Godwin, director of Housing & Dining Facilities within Student Housing & Residential Life (SHRL), has been recognized as the September 2026 Employee of the Month for his collaborative leadership, commitment to improvement and dedication to developing others.
Although his primary role is within Housing & Dining Facilities, Godwin consistently steps beyond his responsibilities to support the broader Student Housing & Residential Life team and build connections across campus. His colleagues recognize him as someone who is always willing to step up, help others and find ways to move projects forward.
Godwin also challenges his team to look beyond their day-to-day responsibilities and consider how their work can improve the student experience. His commitment to innovation and continuous improvement has helped advance projects throughout SHRL and contributed to the growth of the department.
A significant part of Godwin's leadership is his investment in the professional development of those around him. One nominator began working with Godwin nearly three years ago as a student employee and has since advanced to an assistant director role. Throughout that journey, Godwin has provided mentorship, encouraged leadership development and prepared them to navigate difficult conversations and increasingly complex responsibilities.
"Wherever I work for the rest of my career, I have a strong foundation as he is an excellent mentor," the nominator shared.
Through his collaborative spirit, integrity and intentional approach to leadership, Godwin continues to make a meaningful impact on his colleagues, Student Housing & Residential Life and the students it serves.
