HLYEIT4GI5ERDEKKNEFBQ47ZYMMiss UAB, Lillie-Ann Dawson, was a shining star at the 2019 Miss Alabama Competition on June 5-8, 2019 at Samford University. As her first time competing at the state level, Lillie-Ann performed alongside 46 other Miss Alabama contestants and managed to take home a range of cash scholarships and recognition to the tune of $4000. She was also the preliminary winner of Thursday’s evening wear and Friday’s talent awards. On Saturday night, Lillie-Ann was named as one of the Top 12 pageant finalists and winner of the 2019 Miss Alabama STEM award.

Lillie-Ann Dawson is a 20-year-old neuroscience major on UAB’s pre-med track. Her social impact initiative, entitled “Get Moving for Your Gray Matter”, aims to promote healthy physical and mental health during her Miss UAB tenure.

Miss UAB, Lillie-Ann Dawson competed alongside 46 other young women in the Miss Alabama 2019 Competition on June 5-8 at Samford University. This was Lillie-Ann’s first time competing at the state level, competing for her Miss UAB title was her time participating at the local level as well. She During last week’s Miss Alabama Competition, Lillie-Ann was awarded over $4,000 in scholarships, and she was a preliminary winner of the evening wear award on Thursday night and the talent award on Friday night. On Saturday night, Lillie-Ann was named one of the Top 12 finalists of the competition and the winner of the STEM award. Since 1983 the Miss UAB Scholarship Pageant has been an official preliminary to the Miss Alabama and Miss America pageants. The pageant offers young women the opportunity to further educational goals through scholarships and personal growth. Students involved in the pageant gain valuable experience and opportunities to enhance interviewing skills, talent, poise, and confidence. More than $4,600 in scholarships are awarded to the winner and alternates.

In addition to Lillie-Ann’s recognition, four other UAB students also competed in the 2019 Miss UAB competition and received notable scholarship awards. They include Shiann Harper, Julianna Moreno, Emma Owen, and recent-graduate Harley Chapin.
