On Friday, February 9, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Social Justice Advocacy Council hosts the eighth annual Organized Radical Collegiate Activism Conference (ORCA), a day that celebrates and empowers students at UAB and in the community who pursue change.

This conference will celebrate the advocacy work of students and focus on the challenges and successes that come from addressing social justice issues impacting campuses across the state.

Students will lead workshops and panels by presenting their ideas and sharing their unique experiences based on this year’s theme: challenges, advantages, issues, organizing of student activism, advocacy, and how to incorporate social justice into campus work on college campuses.

This all-day event is open to the public to join and be a part of the steps being taken by Alabama’s brightest college students to impact change. The ORCA conference will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the third-floor Hill Student Center Ballrooms. This conference is free and lunch will be included.

Information for conference registration is available here. For disability accommodations, contact the Office of Student Multicultural & Diversity Programs at smdp@uab.edu.
