The UAB Division of Student Affairs, proudly recognizes Will Cornelio from University Recreation as Employee of the Month for his exceptional leadership, collaboration, and commitment to student development. Will, who serves as the Assistant Director for Facility Operations, consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the safety, efficiency, and excellence of URec operations while fostering meaningful growth opportunities for student employees.

Known for his strong cross-campus partnerships, Will has worked closely with the UAB Police Department to integrate Active Shooter Response training into employee development and collaborated with the College of Education to coordinate CPR certification courses. His integrity and accountability are evident in his hands-on approach to facility operations, often stepping in after hours to resolve issues and support members and staff.

Will is especially dedicated to developing engaged student leaders. Through intentional training, mentorship, and empowerment, he prepares student employees to confidently take on supervisory roles and navigate complex, real-world situations. His forward-thinking mindset and continuous pursuit of operational improvements make a lasting impact on University Recreation and the broader UAB community.
