image 1Calling all blazers! Join the Collegiate Recovery Community at UAB in supporting the national recovery day “Wear Purple” initiative.

The first ever national recovery day will take place April 15, 2020, exactly 10 years after the founding of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE). It will be a day dedicated to celebrating and spreading awareness for collegiate recovery programs across the country.

Here is what our Substance Abuse Prevention & Recovery Coordinator, Kristina M. Canfield, has to say on the matter:

"It’s my mission to make UAB a campus known for being Recovery-friendly by supporting our students, faculty, and staff who are in or seeking recovery from substance use disorders. We can all be Recovery allies and wear our purple on #CollegiateRecoveryDay in solidarity with our fellow Blazers. We also want everyone to help share the virtual recovery meetings we are offering during this time so that people know they can still seek help and support, even when we aren’t physically in our space on campus. We are still here for you! We see you! You matter!"

How can you participate in Collegiate Recovery Day? It’s simple! Wear purple and post to social media using the hashtag #CollegiateRecoveryDay. There will also be events taking place on Facebook, Twitter, and Zoom. You can find the event schedule here.

The UAB Collegiate Recovery Community is offering virtual recovery support. If you or someone you know needs support, please visit the CRC website for more information.
