Supporting Students

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Division of Student Affairs is highlighting the people, programs and opportunities that shape the student experience through its 2025–2026 Student Impact Report. From accessing essential resources to building professional skills and finding community, five Blazers share how Student Affairs influenced their experiences at UAB.

Featuring Samantha Sarmiento, Ankita Acharekar, Dillon Jackson, Maizonne Fields and Kendall Wakefield, the interactive document explores how divisional programs, services and relationships support students’ personal, academic and professional growth.

“This report is about how Student Affairs helps turn that potential into possibility,” said John R. Jones III, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs. “Throughout, you’ll see how Student Affairs opens doors.”

Through connections with HSC Blazer Kitchen, Student Counseling Services, the UAB Career Center, University Recreation and Student Media, the students illustrate how opportunities beyond the classroom can create meaningful connections, build skills and help prepare Blazers for what comes next.
