holiday-toy-drive

Veterans Services is providing the UAB community with an opportunity to give to a needy family this holiday by hosting a toy drive benefitting military veterans and their dependents.

Please bring unwrapped toys for children ages 2 to 12 to the Veterans Services suite in room 313 of the Hill Student Center located at 1400 University Blvd. Toys will directly benefit the children of veterans and their dependents here at UAB. Items will be accepted until Thursday, Dec. 15. On the following week, the toys will be delivered to families across the UAB community to help brighten this holiday season.

Also, the UAB Staff Council has partnered with Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children to provide Christmas gifts and winter clothing for needy and deserving children. Gifts can be dropped off at BEC, ordered online and delivered, or can be arranged for pick up. There are 38 children in total and 270 requested gifts. All gifts must be unwrapped, labeled with the child’s name and received by Friday, Dec. 16. For more information, go to https://www.uab.edu/staffcouncil/.

Lastly, the Professional Development Committee wants to identify a deserving charity to support so that staff can have the opportunity to give to support them, if they so choose. They selected The Lovelady Center, which is a nine to twelve-month program designed to restore hope and rebuild lives or women and children. For more information, and to give, go here: https://www.loveladycenter.org/portal/donate-now-secure. Also, there will be an opportunity to give to the Lovelady Center at the Holiday Mixer.
