    Family Weekend Check- In

    Come meet with UAB staff and collect your all the materials for Family Weekend.

    UAB Blazer Mixer
    Recstravaganza
    Campus Green, UAB Recreation Center, Hill Student Center, 4:00 - 7:00 PM

    Join us for a fun filled opening afternoon to Family Weekend 2026.
    Visit with various campus partners during the Blazer Mixer after check in. Chat with representatives from UAB’s colleges and schools as well as other departments and services on campus who are all here to help your student get involved outside the classroom and be successful inside the classroom. Enjoy yard games, Music performances, Food trucks, join a Friday Night Live event, And more!

    Participate in Recstravaganza, an event hosted by University Recreation, and take part in full-size Mario Kart Racing, Dance/Fitness Demos, Climbing Competition, the Blazer Cake Walk, and the traditional Rubby Ducky Race held in URec’s lazy river component of the pool.

    Be part of the first ever Canstruction® canned CanArt® food structures contest! Art structures made from unopened cans of food that will later be donated to Blazer Kitchen and a local foodbank.

    Legacy Pinning Ceremony
    Alumni House (1301 10th Ave S Birmingham, AL 35294), 6:00 PM

    Calling all UAB Alumni Family members. Join the National Alumni Society for light refreshments and a short program which will include our NAS president and other legacy families. Parents will then be given the opportunity to pin their UAB student with a special Legacy lapel pin.

    Come support the UAB Men’s Soccer team as they play against Tulsa. Tickets are $6 for family members, but UAB students are free

    UAB National Solar Tour
    The Solar House, 1637 11th Ave S, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

    The UAB National Solar Tour showcases the Solar House and Sustainable Community's initiatives, encourages and inspires sustainable practices in others, and celebrates the work of local environmental stewards. We will have food, music, vendors, and more! FREE ADMISSION- RSVP required

    The City of Birmingham has many different attractions and events to ensure entertainment for the entire family. Several local attractions have created UAB Family Weekend rates. Choose your adventure with your registration! For UAB students to participate in a Birmingham excursion, they will need to have a purchased ticket. You can purchase additional tickets during registration.

    UAB Family Football Tailgate
    Protective Life Stadium, Blazer Village, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST

    Enjoy an afternoon of tailgate games, food, and fun before going to watch the Blazers take on Tulane University. Meet with representatives from across campus, experience Blazer Walk, the official welcome of the Blazers to Protective Stadium before the game and hang out in Blazer Village. The Fan Zone inside Blazer Village will have interactives including inflatable games, temporary tattoos, face painting, photo opportunities, and more.

    UAB Football vs Samford (tickets included with registration)
    Protective Life Stadium, 2:30 PM CST

    Come cheer on our Blazers as they take on Samford. Family member tickets are included with FW registration. UAB students sit in the UAB student section for free, however, if a student would like to sit with family, they will need a purchased ticket for $11.

    2026 Freshmen Theatre Showcase
    Sirote Theatre located in the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, 7:00 PM

    An exciting evening of performances by our freshman and transfer Theatre and Musical Theatre majors! FREE ADMISSION- RSVP required

  • SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4

    Sunday Family Brunch*
    Commons on the Green, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    Join us for a traditional Sunday brunch at our all you can eat dining facility. $20 for family members, but UAB students are free with meal swipe

    Volleyball vs. Tulsa*
    Bartow Arena**, 1:00 PM

    Come support the UAB Women’s Volleyball team as they play against Tulsa.
    Tickets are $6 for family members, but UAB students are free
    **Due to Bartow Arena renovation timelines, this game location may be changed

  • UAB Recreation activities throughout the weekend

    UAB URec will offer access to all registered parents to the Campus Recreation Center any time between October 2-4,2026. To access the Campus Rec Center please complete this waiver prior to each visit and turn it in upon arrival at the Welcome Desk.     Group Fitness Classes
    All registered participants can also join all Group Fitness Classes during the Family Weekend. You can view the current Group Fitness Schedule here: https://www.uab.edu/students/universityrecreation/programs/fitwell. Participants who would like to take advantage of Group Fitness can simply go to the Campus Recreation Center. Please note that space in each class is limited and priority will be based on a first come, first serve basis.
