Relay for Life kidnaps Blaze!

Blaze, our beloved mascot, has been kidnapped. The good news is that it's all for a worthy cause, but to save Blaze we need to raise $5000 to pay his ransom. Will you help?

The Relay
Date: April 13 6pm- April 14th- 6am ,2012
Location: UAB Mini Park

Relay for Life is an amazing opportunity for the students and faculty of UAB to join together for just one night a year to celebrate, remember and fight back. UAB’s Relay for life takes place April 13th at UAB Mini-Park at 6pm to 6am.

Relay for Life is a fun, overnight, team event that raises awareness of cancer as well as much needed funds for the American Cancer Society’s goal to FIND A CURE through Education, Advocacy for legislature, Support Services for patients, and Research. During Relay, teams of friends, families, neighbors, organizations, and co-workers pitch tents, decorate campsites, and commit to one team member walking the track at all times...because cancer never sleeps. When the sun goes down, hundreds of luminaria candles in honor or in memory of cancer patients light the way under the stars and moment of silence falls during the Ceremony of Hope.

It is easy to join this movement and become part of UAB’s community’s fight against cancer. All you need is 10 or more people to join your team and commit to the fight. Teams are often formed to rally in support of friends or family members who are fighting cancer or have lost their battle.
