We exist to make a positive difference for as many people as possible and are committed to improving the health and lives of all we serve. UAB is conducting a comprehensive assessment of implications of state and federal laws that address Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs and resources. Alabama Act 2024-34 (i.e., SB 129), for example, goes into effect on Oct. 1, 2024. While such laws offer protections for gender- and race-based research and healthcare (e.g., health equity research, etc.), we will make any necessary changes to ensure compliance with applicable laws while continuing to promote our mission.
