Queer Peers

Queer Peers is an LGBTQ+ group that encourages community building for queer and trans undergraduates. We strive to make UAB a more welcoming and inclusive campus through social programming that enables LGBTQ+ students to make connections and form friendships in a fun and affirming space.     Queer Mixer

    Celebrate your pride and make connections within the LGBTQ+ community at our annual Queer Mixer! Join us for a night of games and other fun activities as we kick off another great semester with Queer Peers. Snacks and swag will be provided!

    Coming Out on the Green

    Coming Out on the Green is a celebration of National Coming Out Day in LGBTQ+ History Month! We will have a drag ball contest with 5 categories (drag, butch, face, costume, and vogue) inspired by Netflix’s Pose series. We will have a DJ, free stuff, and prizes available! This event will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and will be in collaboration with SMDP's Queer Peers, SafeZone, and The Social Justice Advocacy Council.

    Lavender Celebration

    Lavender Celebration

    Lavender Celebration is an annual event in the spring of each academic year wherein LGBTQ+ undergraduate, graduate, and professional students receive recognition for both their contribution to campus and their success in graduating. During the event, awards will be given out to selected students, staff, and faculty who have made notable contributions to LGBTQ+ inclusivity on campus.
