Beginning June 1, Blazer Express will be increasing passenger limits up to seated capacity. The shift comes as the university continues its transition of employees back to campus.

“Our new seating limits allow for more efficient service for our passengers,” said André Davis, director of UAB Transportation. “We want our riders to be safe, so we have maintained increased measures related to masks and cleaning protocols.”

The new capacity limits, along with additional buses, will allow for faster service between Express Lot 4 and the medical district. Importantly, while bus capacity will be increased, passengers will not be allowed to stand.

Blazer Express still has the following safety measures in place:

  • Masks will continue to be required on buses.
  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be available on all buses.
  • COVID-19 sanitization protocols will continue.
