Career fairs are networking events that feature key employers and company representatives gathered together in a single location. Career fairs are not about interviewing and hiring, nor are they about hitting up employers for jobs. They effectively introduce job-seekers to select segments of the hidden job market and provide the chance to utilize progressive job search methods. Like any progressive approach, the candidate is encouraged to seek companies, not jobs. UAB Career Services offers several outstanding career fairs every year. Below are brief descriptions to help you select the career fair(s) that would be most productive.
Part-Time Job Fair- Held the first week of the fall semester, offers numerous opportunities for students seeking on- and off-campus jobs.
Fall Job & Internship Fair - Held in September, provides networking opportunities for students and alumni seeking internships and full-time positions.
Government, Non-Profit and Volunteer Fair - Held in January, targeted to students and alumni with majors in related fields seeking internships, part-time, full-time and volunteer positions.
Education Career Fair - Held in February, it provides opportunities for school systems across the Southeast to interview teaching candidates.
Business, Engineering and Technical Career Fair - Held in March, targeted to students and alumni with majors in related fields seeking internships, part-time and full-time positions.
Health and Sciences Career Fair - Held in April, targeted to students and alumni with majors in related fields seeking internships, part-time and full-time positions.
