Career fairs are networking events that feature key employers and company representatives gathered together in a single location. Career fairs are not about interviewing and hiring, nor are they about hitting up employers for jobs. They effectively introduce job-seekers to select segments of the hidden job market and provide the chance to utilize progressive job search methods. Like any progressive approach, the candidate is encouraged to seek companies, not jobs.

UAB Career & Professional Development Services offers several outstanding career
fairs every year. Below are brief descriptions to help you select the career fair(s) that would be most productive. To view companies attending each event, go to the fair link on the home page.
  • Part-Time Job Fair- Held the first week of the fall semester, offers numerous opportunities for students seeking on- and off-campus jobs.
  • Fall Job & Internship Fair - Held in September, provides networking opportunities for students and alumni seeking internships and full-time positions.
  • Health and Sciences Career Fair - January 14 - Targeted to students and alumni with majors in the Health and Science related fields seeking internships, part-time and full-time positions
  • Civic Engagement Fair - January 22 - Targeted to students and alumni seeking internships, part-time, volunteer positions.
  • Business, Engineering and Technical Career Fair - February 19 - Targeted to students and alumni with majors in the Business, Engineering or Technology related fields seeking internships, part-time and full-time positions.
  • Education Career Fair - April 4 - Provides opportunities for school systems across the Southeast to interview teaching candidates. Candiates sign-up the morning of the event 9am-10am for interviews beginning at 10am.
