About Counselor Education
The Master of Arts in Counseling degree has concentrations in the areas of Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. These concentrations are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students acquire core knowledge and clinical skills which enable them to enter the profession of counseling. Both counseling concentrations are designed to meet the academic course work and field experience requirements for becoming a licensed professional counselor (LPC) as established by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC).
