Clinical Mental Health Tenure Track Position - Assistant Professor

The University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications and nominations for a 9-month, tenure track assistant professor appointment with the Counselor Education Program, Department of Human Studies, School of Education, beginning the fall of 2014. Candidates for this position should have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited university.  ABD candidates will be considered with evidence the degree will be granted by August, 2014. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a credential as a licensed professional counselor or are eligible for licensure in Alabama.

Candidate  qualifications:  a) a commitment to excellence in teaching, b) expertise in counselor education and supervision, c) familiarity with CACREP accreditation requirements, d) relevant work experience in a higher education setting and/or teaching experience in a higher education program, e) experience in online and blended instruction, and f) evidence of scholarly productivity, including publications in recognized clinical mental health counseling journals or related journals. A background in Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling is preferred. The successful candidate must commit to being pro-active in seeking and securing external research funding.  

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:  teaching graduate counselor education courses, advising counselor education students, providing counseling supervision for clinical courses and/or students in the UAB Community Counseling Clinic, committing to a definite line of research and scholarship, actively participating in service for the university and professional counseling organizations.
