How did you get started in the health education profession?
I have always liked helping others make informed decisions about their health and well-being. My first full-time job as a Health Educator at the University of Central Florida was a wonderful experience and solidified that I had made the correct career decision.
Retta R Evans, PhDHow did you get started in the health education profession?
I started out in exercise physiology but have always been intrigued by human behavior – why people choose to adopt a certain health behavior. Since I was a dancer and athlete in HS and college, I have always been interested in health and nutrition. My Phd in health education with emphasis in nutrition brought all of my interests together.
Cynthia J. Petri, Ph.D., CHESHow did you get started in the Health Education profession?
As odd as it sounds, I became interested in the health of humans when working as a secretary in Purdue’s School of Veterinary Medicine. I became aware of the Health Education program in the Social Science School. My interest was sparked as I saw how animal research was also helping people. I thought, I want to help people better their health!
