“I can access any of my courses from anywhere in the world. I get to interact with my classmates just as if I were in class."
— Sydnee Scott, UAB military student
Sydnee Scott, a military student, is a senior studying Human Resources Management. Sydnee has been able to use online courses to continue her degree plans.
As a military student, Sydnee has encountered periods of time where she could not come to campus.
“I can access any of my courses from anywhere in the world. Wherever the military may station me, I can access my classes there,” said Scott. “I get to interact with my classmates just as if I were in class.”
Discussion boards and group projects make online feel much like regular classes to her.
“UAB Online courses help me study anywhere around the world!”
"Even though I was thousands of miles away in Nigeria, the lecture delivery gave me the student interaction I hoped for."
— Albertine Doibo, UAB eLearning alum
Albertine Doibo of Nigeria was in the first graduating class of the UAB School of Engineering’s Advanced Safety and Engineering Management (ASEM) master’s program. ASEM is the first and only master of engineering degree with a safety emphasis offered fully online.
“I worked in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria for about a decade and gathered a wealth of experience but I felt I needed a boost to my career. I learned of UAB’s totally online program, the Master of Engineering in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management program, and it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for,” said Doibo. “Even though I was thousands of miles away in Nigeria, I was afraid I would miss interaction, but the format of the lecture delivery created a bond amongst all classmates and gave me the student interaction I hoped for. Attaining my master’s degree completely online was a great experience.”
