Sustainability at UAB

As the largest single-site employer in Alabama, UAB takes seriously its responsibility to be a good steward of our resources and to make our campus and environment more sustainable. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is seen daily in our efforts toward sustainable design, construction and operations of our education, research and healthcare facilities.

UAB has made significant strides to this end over the past several years, opening a campus recycling center, implementing a successful energy conservation plan, and developing a student housing community that focuses on conservation and sustainability. Throughout this website, you will read about current research being conducted by the School of Engineering on a variety of topics like green roof design and green energy design.

UAB is proud of these and other sustainability efforts and we remain committed to our leadership role in protecting and preserving our environment.
