It’s National Clean Up Your Computer Month, so why not start the year with a clean slate?
Here are some tips to straighten up your devices:
- Remove those unused files. Those files are taking up space on your hard drive and can make your computer slower. Go ahead and throw them in the trash bin, but keep in mind UAB’s Data Protection and Security Policy.
- Uninstall old software. If you no longer use or need the software, you can go ahead and uninstall it. You can free up more space and help your computer run faster.
- Empty out the trash or recycle bin. Even though you deleted the unused files, they clog up the recycle bin. Emptying it occasionally will improve your computer speed.
- Back up important files. Backups can help protect from human errors, viral attacks and hardware issues. Take a look at the cloud and on-premises storage UAB offers.
- Do a virus scan. When you download things from the internet, there is always a chance of a virus being attached to the files. The best way to protect your computer is to run a virus scanning program just to be on the safe side.
