The Department of Neurology at UAB welcomes you to learn more about our program. We train 6 adult neurology residents each year that go forth and do well in competitive fellowships, specific areas of research, and general practice neurology. Our residents are afforded exposure to all spectrums of neurological disease during their time at UAB and are lead through appropriate management of these patients by over 45 knowledgeable, established and approachable attending Neurologists. From the general neurology exposure at our VA and county hospital to the subspecialized care provided at Kirklin Clinic, our residents finish their years of training at UAB with the confidence and knowledge to approach virtually any neurologic disease. The residents partake in many educational conferences and lectures throughout each week and learn through hands-on practice and didactic sessions on a daily basis. This is reflected through our consistent success on our board exams and in our Residency In-Training Exam. The UAB Neurology residents, as a whole, have scored above the 90th percentile in the country for the past 5 years! The dedication of our instructors and residents to strong education and high clinical standards has culminated in knowledgeable, compassionate and motivated neurologists who have gone on to do great things throughout the country. This great training occurs in a very welcoming environment that encourages discussion, mutual respect and thoughtful decision making. Please learn more about our program through the use of this website and contact us with any questions.
