Faculty ombudsperson candidate sessions planned for May 10-13

Faculty are invited to attend sessions for the UAB ombudsperson candidates planned for next week. The ombudsperson will be a designated neutral or impartial dispute resolution practitioner at UAB.

Session 1: Mark Hickson Tuesday, May 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Hill Student Center Room 101

Session 2: Michelle Fanucchi Wednesday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Hill Student Center Room 312

Session 3: Elizabeth Sztul Thursday, May 12, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Hill Student Center Room 101

Session 4: J Michael Wyss Friday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Hill Student Center Room 101

The major functions of the position include providing confidential, impartial and informal assistance to faculty; acting as a source of information and referral; aiding in answering faculty questions; assisting in the facilitation of resolutions of concerns. The ombudsperson is not an advocate for any individual, but rather is an advocate for fairness. This position helps to facilitate productive communication aimed at assisting resolve such issues before they become formal grievances.

As schedules allow, faculty may drop in and out of these sessions, as well as pose any questions.
