Yester wins the 2016 AAPM Edith H. Quimby Award

yesterMichael Yester, Ph.D., DABR, FAAPM, FACR, professor in the Divisions of Physics and Engineering and Nuclear Medicine in the Department of Radiology, received the 2016 American Association of Physicists in Medicine Edith H. Quimby Award during the awards and honors convocation at the 58th annual meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in Washington, D.C. This prestigious award recognizes AAPM members with notable careers and outstanding achievements in medical physics.

Edith H. Quimby, MA was one of the earliest researchers of x-rays and radium. She was the first woman to receive the Janeway Medal of the American Radium Society in recognition of her achievements in the field. 

After completing training in Medical Physics, he joined the Department of Radiology in 1976 and had primary clinical responsibility in nuclear medicine.   In 2002, he became director of the Division of Physics and Engineering. Yester is active in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and has served on the American College of Radiology Mammography Accreditation Physics Subcommittee and currently serves on the Nuclear Medicine Accreditation Physics subcommittee. He is also on the American Board of Radiology Nuclear Medicine Physics Exam Committee.
