UAB Staff Council partnering with CASA for annual Angel Tree Holiday Present Drive

Written by
angel tree webThe UAB Staff Council has partnered with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) of Jefferson County to support the agency’s annual Angel Tree Holiday Present Drive, which allows individuals, families, churches and other groups to provide gifts or winter clothing for needy kids involved Family Court cases whose legal custodians simply cannot afford them.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources, together with many supporting organizations, provides limited assistance with holiday gifts, but only for kids in DHR custody. More than half of the children involved in CASA’s Family Court cases are not in DHR custody, and these children are often left out during the holiday season because their guardians are often unable to afford this extra expense.

A gift registry is available to view online (Blazer ID and password are required). Click the child’s name to see the specific gifts requested on the wish list; to claim a gift, click the name of the gift an enter your name, email address and telephone number.

All gifts must be received—unwrapped and labelled with the child’s name—by Friday, Dec. 16. Gifts can be dropped off at the UAB Collat School of Business between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the following dates:
  • Thursday, Dec. 1
  • Friday, Dec. 2
  • Wednesday, Dec. 7
  • Thursday, Dec. 8
  • Thursday, Dec. 15
  • Friday, Dec. 16
Gift drop offs in Volker Hall and the Faculty Office Tower can be arranged by contacting Jennifer Spears and Amy Dean, the SOM representatives on the UAB Staff Council, at somstaffreps@uab.edu. Learn more about the Angel Tree drive by visiting the Staff Council website
