School of Medicine kicks off its $30 million Alumni Campaign

Written by
The UAB School of Medicine has launched its Alumni Campaign, an ambitious effort to raise $30 million over the next three years to support five key priority areas: scholarships, residency/fellowship/post-graduate programs, faculty support, research and enhancing education across all programs.

Alumni have already contributed more than $20.2 million toward the $30 million goal with support from 3,675 individual donors. Conducted in partnership with the Medical Alumni Association, the Alumni Campaign concludes at the end of The Campaign for UAB in October 2018.

“Our alumni are making a powerful impact through their support of the programs that are most meaningful to them,” said Selwyn M. Vickers, M.D., F.A.C.S., senior vice president for Medicine and dean of the School of Medicine. “We invite every graduate of every program – MDs, former residents and fellows, and our Joint Health Sciences alumni – to invest in the School. Every gift will make a difference.”

“Alumni have strong desire to see the continued growth and success in the School of Medicine,” said MAA President Pink L. Folmar, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.P., (M.D. 1972, Internal Medicine Resident 1975). “Dr. Vickers has a strong vision for the school, and we each have the opportunity to invest in that vision. The Medical Alumni Association has made a gift of $100,000 to endow a scholarship as a lead gift to this important effort.”
