Applications open for UAB Faculty Development Program grants

Written by
The UAB Faculty Development Grant Program provides money for research, teaching and service related projects to enhance the effectiveness of UAB faculty members by providing funds for them to undertake new efforts for which resources are not available.

FDGP applications are due by midnight, Monday, February 15, 2016. To be eligible, an applicant must have a full-time UAB faculty appointment AND must secure matching funds from their department and/or school/college. A maximum of $10,000 ($5,000 from FDGP with a 1 to 1 match by department/school) may be requested per application.

In submitting an application, the applicant agrees to:
  • provide a final report on activities undertaken and outcomes [to be posted to the Faculty Senate/FDGP website
  • present his/her findings at the fall 2017 FDGP Poster Session
  • complete any program-related assessments in years following the award.
Strong preference will be given to junior faculty; however, senior faculty may apply as long as the proposed project represents a new/distinct research or training direction that must be justified.

Information and applications for FDGP are available from the Faculty Senate via the FDGP website. Awarded funds will be available beginning in May 2016 and must be expended by August 31, 2017. If IRB and/or IACUC approval is required for the project, the approval page must be submitted prior to the release of funds.
