Michael Garret Hurst, MDAssistant Professor

 

 

 

Dr. Hurst is from Columbia, SC and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  He completed internship and residency at Wake Forest University and is board certified in Family Medicine and Palliative Medicine.  He was fellowship trained in hospice and palliative care at UAB and currently serves as assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care.  He has also joined the faculty at Children's of Alabama as a physician on the pediatric palliative care team.  Academic interests include subcutaneous medication administration and novel methods of administering comfort medications.  He spends weekends doing auto maintenance and repair and competing in autocross racing.
