Biography

Dr. Carter received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. He completed his internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1995. He came to UAB as an assistant professor with the UAB Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2005 and was named medical director of The Workplace at UAB Highlands shortly thereafter. In 2006, he received additional comprehensive training in fluoroscopic guided injection therapy from the UAB Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and received secondary appointment with the UAB Department of Anesthesiology, where he performs interventional pain procedures at the UAB Highlands Pain Clinic. Dr. Carter is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Carter is a member of the American College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
