Dr. Alizeh AbbasUAB General Surgery Residency Program resident Alizeh Abbas, M.D., has been selected as a recipient of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Resident Research Scholarship.

The scholarships allow promising research residents to focus on their endeavors and also encourage awardees to pursue a career in academic surgery.

Residents chosen for the award must have completed at least two years of postdoctoral training and will receive $30,000 per year that may be used for direct costs related to research.

Abbas will attend the Annual Clinical Congress in the second year of her award to present an update on her research during the Scientific Forum.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Abbas has been recognized for her exemplary research efforts and has been chosen for the ACS Scholarship,” says General Surgery Residency Program Director Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, FACS.
