MERIT Scholars are required to complete research and teaching skills development plans and research ethics training. In addition, each MERIT Scholar is encouraged to interact with the Mentor’s research team, including other Postdocs, graduate students, and collaborators, through laboratory meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminar series. Further, each MERIT Scholar is provided with opportunities to develop professional skills, including grant writing, time and laboratory management, presentation, and publication skills, through The Office of Postdoctoral Education.

MERIT Scholars are also required to participate in the monthly MERIT Joint Seminar Series, the Annual MERIT Program Retreat, and the Annual IRACDA Conference. In addition, MERIT Scholars are encouraged to meet monthly as a group.
