Accreditation

The UAB School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and  approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN)In 2010, the UAB School of Nursing received the 10-year maximum accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for its baccalaureate and master’s programs and five-year maximum accreditation for its Joint Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.  This extends accreditation for the baccalaureate and master's programs through June 2020 and Joint DNP program through October 2015. The Nurse Anesthesia Program also received the 10-year maximum accreditation in 2010 from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

The school has program approval from the Pediatric Certification Board (PCNB) for: 1) Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and 2) Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Additionally, the school is in compliance with the National Certification Corporation for: 1) Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and 2) Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner Option.
