CRIME ALERT: Robbery Near 701 20th Street South - December 27, 2016On 12/27/2016, at approximately, 6:53 p.m., Birmingham Police received a call of a robbery (no weapon involved) that occurred near 701 20th Street South (Compass Bank). At approximately, 7:00 p.m., Birmingham Police contacted UAB Police Dispatch requesting that UAB Police issue a "Be On the Look Out" (BOLO) for the suspect.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing dark clothing and was last seen traveling eastbound on 7th Avenue South near Arby's in a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee. This incident did not involve a UAB student or employee.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating this case.

CRIME ALERT: Robbery Near UAB Commons on the Green - December 05, 2016On Monday, December 5, 2016, at 12:44 a.m., a UAB student was robbed of some consumable goods purchased from the Hungry Howie’s (1501 11th Avenue South). The victim stated that he was walking north toward the UAB Heritage Hall (1401 University Blvd).
The victim stated that as he entered the area of the UAB Commons on the Green, an unknown black male approached him and asked, “what do you have there?” As the victim turned to face the subject, he was punched in his right eye with a closed fist.
A description of the suspect, as well as his accomplice: The suspects were identified as black males, one short and stocky, the other slim and taller. The suspects were both wearing dark colored hoodies, with the hoods pulled up on their heads.
The victim last saw both subjects flee south towards UAB Rast Hall (1530 11th Avenue South).
After reviewing video from the surveillance, the subjects were viewed fleeing the scene in what appeared to be a Maroon 4 door Nissan Altima. It was last seen headed east on 10th Avenue south.
The UAB Police Department is investigating the crime.
