Treatment Specialties : Breast
Aside from skin cancers, the most common cancer afflicting women in the United States is breast cancer. About three-fourths of all breast cancers are ductal carcinomas and about 15% are lobular carcinomas. Breast cancers can be treated in a variety and combination of ways including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and others. Radiation therapy usually follows surgery and it is effective in reducing the chance of the cancer recurring.
Radiation therapy can be delivered either externally, via an External Beam Radiotherapy (EBRT), or internally, using brachytherapy.
