Technology : Treatment Planning and Delivery : On Board Imaging (OBI)
On Board Imaging (OBI) is a real-time imaging system designed to improve the accuracy of treatment delivery to the target site. Because some targets move as the bodies move, it is imperative that that treatment delivery machines recognize and account for this movement while delivering radiation beams to the target region. This improves the accuracy of the delivery, which improves outcomes, and it also spares healthy tissues. Several imaging modalities can be used, including 2D radiographic, fluoroscopic, or 3D cone-beam CT imaging.
