"Investigators in the UAB Department of Radiation Oncology work together to translate research discoveries at the bench to novel therapeutic strategies for our patients" - Eddy Yang, MD, PhD

The Department of Radiation Oncology has recently expanded its Translational Research Program by adding 3 physician scientists. The Translational Research Program addresses both translational and basic science questions in:

  • Methods of enhancing radiosensitization such as combinations of chemotherapy or targeted other agents with radiotherapy
  • Identifying novel therapeutic approaches to treat high-grade gliomas
  • Investigating the role between proteins and radiation treatment effectiveness
