Treatment Specialties

Academic Radiation Oncologists often develop an interest in and specialize in specific treatment sites. They often may perform research directed at conditions or treatments related to those sites. Different radiation treatment therapies and technologies may be suitable for different treatment sites. For example, prostate cancer may be treated with brachytherapy and/or EBRT, but not with a Gamma Knife. The brain may be treated with a Gamma Knife, but not with brachytherapy.
